Herrin - Lydia M. Reis, 97, formerly of St. Louis, Mo died at 9:20 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2003 at her home. She was born August 12, 1905 in St. Louis, MO to Andrew and Mary (Ikemeyer) Stoeckel. She married Ralph Reis, September 5, 1953 in St. Louis, Mo. He died December 7, 2000. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin and a member of the Daughters of Isabella. In St. Louis she was a volunteer at St. Anthony's Hospital for over 3,000 hours. Survivors include: Son and dtr in law - Ralph and Donna Reis - Glen Carbon, IL Son in law - Robert Eckert - Marissa, IL Son and dtr in law - Don and Mary Ann Reis - Herrin, IL Son and dtr in law - J. Richard and Nancy Reis - Dittmer, MO 15 grandchildren Several great and great great grandchildren Sister - Geraldine Jensen - St. Louis, MO Brother - Charles "Bud" Stoeckel- St. Louis, MO Her parents, husband, one daughter, Dolores Eckert and one sister, Hilda Wille and one brother Andrew Stoeckel preceded her in death. A funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at St. Anthony Padua Catholic Church in St. Louis, MO. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at Gebken-Benz Funeral Home in St. Louis, MO. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Memorials may be made to OLMC School Foundation in Herrin, IL. They may be sent to Johnson Hughes Funeral Home, PO Box 429, Herrin, IL 62948.
