Marion M. Sue Broadway, 90, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at 5:38 A.M. at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Sue was born July 29, 1916 in Marion to Ira C. & Kitty (Russell) Nelson. She married Charles Benjamin Broadway on August 6, 1938 in Russellville, Kentucky and together they shared over 61 years of marriage until his death on July 3, 2000. Sue was a graduate of Southern Illinois University with a degree in education. During her teaching career she taught at high schools in Marion, Anchorage, Alaska and Montgomery County, Maryland. She was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church, Heartland Hospital Auxiliary, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, SIU Alumni Assn and Little Egypt Chapter Military Officers Assn. Sue is survived by her Sister, Margaret White and husband Charles of Boaz, Alabama, brother-in-law, J.H. Wilkins of Kookuk, Iowa and friend Monte Walker of Vernon, New York. She is preceded by her parents and husband Charles Broadway. Funeral services will be at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at the 1st Presbyterian Church of Marion with Rev. Dan Whitfield officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 P.M. until the time of service at the church. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home is handling arrangements. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Marion Cultural and Civic Center, 1st Presbyterian Church or Broadway Rotary Foundation.
