Marion Mabel Griffin, 86, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2007 at 8:45 P.M. at her home in Marion surrounded by loved ones.
Mabel was born August 17, 1920 in Winter, Wisconsin to Harvey and Jennie (Moleen) Tregoning. She married Carl Kenneth Griffin on January, 4, 1944 in Los Angeles, California. They returned to Southern Illinois in 1946 and together they shared over forty years of marriage until his death on February 28, 1984.
Mabel or Trig as she was known to family members graduated from Jackson Park School of Nursing in Chicago in October, 1943. She worked 33 years at Marion Memorial Hospital, beginning her career on the hospitals opening day in 1953. She worked many years in OB and retired as Director of Nurses in 1986. After her retirement, she continued working part-time at the Herrin Senior Center. Mabel touched many lives during her long nursing career.
Mabel enjoyed watching sports of all kinds and attending the sporting events of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceded by Parents, Husband, Three brothers, Maurice Tregoning, Milton Tregoning, Emerson Tregoning, Two sisters, Dorothy Olsen, Lucille Thorsander, Step-Daughter Shirley Hammock and best friend Sandy Crutcher.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 6:00 P.M. at Spillertown Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Hall officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. until the time of service at the church. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
