Macri Katie

Herrin- KATIE MACRI, age 97, of Herrin, passed away at 9:00am on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin. Katie was born in Willisville, IL on August 12, 1912, the daughter of Samuel and Fannie Salvo. She married Joe Macri in Herrin on November 6, 1937. Together, they shared sixty years of marriage, until his death on July 19, 1998. Mrs. Macri was the former owner of Red Top Liquor in Herrin, retiring at the age of 72. Survivors include her son- James J. Macri, one granddaughter- Debbie (Macri) Clemons, two great grandchildren- Kristen and Dustin, niece- Angela Mae Smith, nephew- Douglas Pence, and two daughter-in-laws- Shirley Macri and Joyce Ann Nemeth. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son- Joe Macri, Jr., two granddaughters- Kristie Macri and Jennie Marie Macri, and eight siblings. Memorial services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Inurnment will follow at San Carlo Cemetery. A time of gathering will be held from noon-1pm on Thursday at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. For those who prefer, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
