Madge Rasmussen

Madge Rasmussen passed away at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois on Wednesday, June 7, 2006. Madge was born February 3, 1927 in Piqua, Ohio the daughter of William and Gladys (Adams) Young. Madge married Nels Rasmussen in Dayton, Ohio and together they shared over 50 years of marriage. Madge is survived by her husband Nels Rasmussen, of Goreville, Illinois; they formerly lived in Alvin, Illinois for nearly 40 years. Madge is survived by three sons, Michael Rasmussen (Margaret) of Algonquin, Illinois; Peter Rasmussen (Peggy) of Libertyville, Illinois; and Mark Rasmussen (Janice) of Goreville, Illinois and one daughter Rebecca Rasmussen of Lexington, Illinois. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Jaclyn (Jason) Ashford of Palatine, Illinois, Chad Rasmussen with the United States Air Force stationed at McChord Air Base, Seattle, Washington, Katie, Matthew and Kyle Rasmussen of Libertyville, Illinois and Sarah and Grace Rasmussen of Peoria, Illinois. Two step grandchildren; Kristy Vicary of Hampton, Virginia and Scott Vicary of Peoria, Illinois. Madge was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Elmo Young and William Young and infant son John Rasmussen. Madge graduated from Piqua High School, Piqua, Ohio. She was a housewife and a stay at home mother. She enjoyed spending time with her children and her grandchildren. She had been a member of the Alvin, Illinois Methodist Church. She also had been a scoutmaster for a Girl Scout Troop in Alvin. She loved to fish and said she would be happy if she left this world with a fishing pole in her hand. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, June 26, 2006 at the Union Cemetery in Rankin, Illinois. Rev. Ray Owens will officiate. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion, Illinois is handling local arrangements.
