Marion Manda Ellen (Tanner) Turner, 99, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 9:30 A.M. at her home. Manda was born February 10, 1912 in the community of Dykersburg the daughter of Earnest and Edith (Dunaway) Tanner. She married Wiley Turner on October 29, 1928 in Elizabethtown. He preceded her in death. She was a member of Indian Camp Church, where as a young woman she sang and played the piano. In her earlier years she worked as a nursing assistant. Manda was a fantastic cook, gardener, seamstress and caretaker. She was a kind and loving person to all. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. She is survived by; Daughter Sue (Turner) Dungey and husband Bill of Marion Granddaughter Pamela Kay (Dungey) Smothers and husband Jack D. of Marion Nephews; Dr. Kinch T. & Joyce Jones and family of Park Hills, Missouri Jerald & Linda Sims and family of Harrisburg Gerry & Geri Turner and family of Carrier Mills Nieces; Lou Eva (Manier) & Jim Minton and family of Marion Diane & Charles Parks and family of Carrier Mills Judy Turner of Golconda Nadine Shaw and family of Dykersburg Hallie McIntosh and family of Carbondale Jo Barger and family of Crab Orchard Ursella Richey and family of Marion Neil (Richey) Holt and family of Oregon Brother-in-law Paul Blackwell and family of Sparta Preceded by her Parents, Husband Wiley Turner, Sisters Amoze Sims, Zella Mae Manier, Twin Sister Anna Killman and infant brother Ephriam Tanner. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 1 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. David Milburn officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Special thanks to her caregivers; Mary Edwards, Darlene Eidelbaugh, Hospice of Southern Illinois and her hairdresser Glenn Fox. For those who prefer memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, IL 62959.
