Margaret P. Willis

Herrin- Margaret Phyllis Willis, 84, of Watsonville, CA, formerly of Herrin, passed away at 8:00 AM, Thursday, June 25, 2009 at her home. Margaret was born on October 9, 1924 in Herrin to Joe & Monica (Monticelli) Piantanida. She married Laverne Willis and he preceded her in death on October 28, 1986. Margaret worked many years at Norge in Herrin before retiring from Wieboldts in Oak Park, IL where she was credit manager. In her spare time she enjoyed playing bingo, reading and playing card games with her friends. She enjoyed spending time with her sister on cruises and traveling to different places. She was catholic. Survivors include- Daughter in law- Mary Linda Willis of Richmond, IL Grandchild- Philip L. Willis and companion Tiffany Smith of Watsonville, CA Grandchild- Jack J. Willis & wife Harmony of Big Sur, CA Grandchild- Julia M. Francis of Richmond, IL Great Grandchildren- Jacob Francis & Ayla Zea Willis Sister in law- Lillian Abramson of Mt. Prospect, IL She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son- Jerry Allen Willis and one sister- Geneva Francescon. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 6, 2009 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Monsignor Ken Schaefer will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery.
