Herrin- Marguerite Hampton, 85, of Herrin, passed away at 8:00 AM, Sunday, February 27, 2005 at home.
Marguerite was born on June 15, 1919 in Sesser to Oliver Shorty & Maggie (Brown) Walker. She married Virgil Hampton in 1938. They were married sixty-seven years.
Prior to her retirement in 1982, Marguerite was co-owner/administrator of Hampton Nursing Manor (now known as Shawnee Christian Nursing Center) in Herrin. She was an attending member of Abundant Life Assembly of God in Marion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister; Malvola Brown, and brothers; Val & Oliver Walker.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at Abundant Life Assembly of God in Marion. Pastor Jeff Baker will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
