Marie A. Simmons

Marion- Marie A. (DeFrank) Simmons, age 84, of Marion, passed away at 8:29 AM, Friday, June 12, 2015 at Parkway Manor in Marion. Marie was born on February 13^th, 1931 in Marion, the daughter of Francis (Macaluso) and Joe De Frank, Sr.  She was united in marriage to John B. Simmons on January 31^st, 1953 in Marion.  He preceded her in death. Marie attended Community Chapel in Marion.  She was employed at Sangamo Electric from 1953 - 1962.  Marie went on to work at Diagraph Corporation from where she retired after thirty one years. She is survived by; her sister, Clancy Ann Carlisle of Chicago; her sister-in-law, Lois DeFrank of Marion; her special friend and caregiver, Barb Miles of Marion; and her loving cat Buster. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe DeFrank, Sr., her mother, Francis (Macaluso) DeFrank, her husband, John B. Simmons, one brother, Joe DeFrank Jr., two sisters; Angeline Barrale and Josephine Tucker. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 15^th, 2015 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. Don Colson will officiate.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:00 PM on Monday at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Memorial donation are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois or any animal shelter and will be accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home/ 800 N. Market St. / Marion, IL  62959.
