Martha C. Deem

Marion- Martha Catherine Toots Deem, 81, of Marion, formerly of Hammond, IN, passed away at 6:55 PM, Friday, October 6, 2006 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Martha was born on May 12, 1925 in Gallatin County to Oscar & Flora (Morehead) Pinkston. She married her husband of forty nine years, William Bill Deem, on July 19, 1958 in Shawneetown. He survives of Marion. Martha worked as a cut steel inspector for Inland Steel in Hammond, IN for more than thirty years prior to her retirement. In her spare time she enjoyed fishing on the Lake of Egypt with Bill, spending time with her grandchildren, quilting, and shopping. She was a good neighbor and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, October 9, 2006 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. Steve & Cindy Freeland will officiate. Entombment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Herrin. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
