Martha Jacobs

Martha Jacobs, age 82, of Marion, died at 8:17 A.M. on Sunday, May 27th, 2001, at her home. Visitation for Mrs. Jacobs was from 5-8 P.M. on Thursday, May 31st with the funeral service at 10:30 A.M. Friday, June 1st at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home. Burial was at Barham (Rose Hill) Cemetery in Marion. Rev. Randy Allison officiated. Martha was born January 14, 1919, in Marion to Claude Thomas & Amilia (Schneider) Johnston. Both parents preceded her in death. She married Wilbert C. Jacobs on April 15, 1963 in St. Louis, Missouri. She had worked in the wiring department at Emerson Electric for twenty years. She was a member of the Parish Park Christian Church in Marion, and sang in a church group. Memorials may be given to Parish Park Christian Church or to Hospice of Southern Illinois. She is survived by her husband, Wilbert C. Jacobs of Marion; three step-sons, Anton (& Jean) Jacobs of Kansas City, Missouri, Jeffrie (& Nancy) Jacobs of Merritt Island, Florida, and Douglas (& Beth) Jacobs of St. Charles, Missouri. She is also survived by two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mabel Dahmer of Herrin, Mary & Dare Bauer of Marion, and two nephews, two nieces, nine great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded by one sister, Vera Frick.
