*Use FLAG Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home Martin Glenn Anderson-Obituary Herrin-Martin Glenn Anderson, 79, died 12:30 P.M., Saturday, August 9, 2003 at Herrin Hospital. Martin was born April 17, 1924 in Delaware, Indiana to Louis Ray & Margaret (Plump) Anderson. He first married Betty (Revak) Anderson who preceded him in death on July 6, 1992. He later married Shirley (Givens) Anderson on October 13, 1993. Shirley survives. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He entered the service in 1943 and served in Europe as a forward artillery observer and tug boat captain. He later was a smoke jumper in Montana, a forester in Southern Illinois. He served as a county extension agent and director of the Mid New York Planning Agency before retiring as director of the Comprehensive health Planning Agency for Southern Illinois. He was member of the Herrin First United Methodist Church. Survivors Include: Wife: Shirley Anderson of Herrin Son & Daughter In Law: Joseph Anderson & Susan Bearden of Rush Springs, OK. Sister: Arriest Udey of Milan, IN Sister & Brother In Law: Louise & Elvin White of Milan, IN. Brother & Sister In Law: Jim & Virginia Anderson of Hope, IN. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Betty J. Anderson, brother Robert Anderson and sister Neva Huntington. Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Lovett officiating. Burial will follow at Masonic & Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Herrin Food Pantry. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home.
