Marva J. Knight

Marva J. Knight, age 86, of Whiteash, Illinois,  passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Integrity Nursing Home in Herrin, Illinois.

Marva was born February 05, 1936 in Ullin, Illinois, a daughter of Laneer J. and Cathaleen B. (Smith) Schaefer. She moved to Goreville, IL in her late teens and lived there over 30 years. Marva was a homemaker.  She lived in DuQuoin, IL a few years and settled in Johnston City, IL, where she lived until she entered Integrity Health Care in Herrin, IL.  Her daughter would like to express a special "Thank You" to the Staff of Integrity for the wonderful care she received.  Marva's special greeting to anyone that visited her was "I LIKE YOU".  She loved going to church and was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Johnston City for over 30 years.  She will be greatly missed. 

She is survived by one daughter, Melanie (Virgil) Strunk Jr. of Marion, IL; three grandchildren, Aaron (Leslie) Strunk, Nathan Strunk, and Stephanie (Nick) Sanders; three great-grandchildren, Zoie Strunk, Kaleigh Strunk, and Natalie Sanders; and many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Laneer J. and Cathaleen B. (Smith) Schaefer; one son, Phillip (Cindy) Pyland; and her eight brothers.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 19th, 2022 from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM at Mitchell Hughes Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022, 11:00 AM at Mitchell Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Glasco and Rev. Brandon Abernathy officiating. Burial will follow at Freedom Cemetery in Marion.
