Mary B. Hays

Mary B. Hays, 84, of Marion, passed away at 8:30 A.M. on Tuesday, July 16, 2002. Funeral Services for Mary will be held Saturday July 20, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Ford officiating. Burial will follow at King Cemetery at Ewing, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Mary was born on October 29, 1917 in Ewing, IL to Willis and Jennie Elizabeth (Moore) Payne; they both preceded her in death. She married Lee E. Hays on May 22, 1943 in Gadsden AL; he passed away on October 18, 1978. Mary moved to Marion in 1982 after living most of her life in Crab Orchard and was a member of the Center Baptist Church. She was retired from the Olin Mathison Co. (General Dynamics). She was a member of the Third Baptist Church of Marion and the Marion Senior Citizens. She is survived by three sons and daughter in laws; Richard and Connie Hays of Marion, IL, Robert and Mary Hays of San Antonio, TX, David and Lissa Hays of Lutz, FL. Seven grandchildren; Amy (Dustin) Zellar, Elizabeth Hays, Tracy (Ron) Lang, Patrick Hays, Christopher Hays, Jonathan Hays, and Michael Hays, one great grandson, Zachary Zeller, and a sister and brother in law; Alice and Albert Teffertiler of Mcleansboro, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother and sister in law, Jack and Margaret Payne.
