Marion- Mary Charlene Murphy, 74, of Marion, passed away at 8:30 AM, Monday, April 13, 2009 at her home in Marion. Mary Charlene was born on May 2, 1934 in Marion to Matthew Roosevelt & Lily Pearl (Sutton) Clendenin. She married Bobby Murphy on June 6, 1981 at Warder Street Baptist Church in Marion. She was a homemaker and formerly owned and operated the Chuck Wagon Caf in Marion. She was a member of and former Sunday school teacher at Marion Second Baptist Church. She was a loving and generous person who enjoyed game shows, bingo & country western music. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include- Husband- Bobby Murphy of Marion Six Children: Randall Stacy & wife Cindy of Herrin Debbie Stone of Keithville, LA Susan Kent of Herrin DelRay Stacy of Marion Anna Louise Hancock of Herrin Donna Davis of Las Vegas, NV Thirteen Grandchildren plus one on the way Twenty Five Great Grandchildren Two Great Great Grandchildren Brother- Larry Joe Clendenin & wife Carol of Marion Sister- Muriel Winifred McCullough of Morris, IL Several nieces & nephews Numerous Cousins Close Friend- Doris June of Creal Springs Close Friend- Marge Neber of CA She was preceded in death by her parents, infant child, and one sister- Delores Clendenin. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. David Blue will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Poordo. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service, Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home/ 800 N. Market St./ Marion, IL 62959.
