Mary Elva Robinson

Rev. Mary Elva Robinson, age 89, of Marion, passed away at 10:40pm on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.    Mary was born in Pulley’s Mill on November 2, 1924, the daughter of Jesse James and Iva (Peterman) Robertson. She married Donald Robinson in Chicago on October 25, 1967. He survives in Marion.    Loving the work of the Lord, Elva spent much of her early life in evangelistic work. She was ordained in July of 1948 at the United Pentecostal Campground in Murphysboro.  She was a member of the First Apostolic Church of Marion.  Survivors include her husband- Donald Robinson of Marion, Two sisters- Clara May Elfrank of Johnston City,Laureen Montgomery of Tampa, FL, Several Nieces and Nephews.Elva was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters-Naomi Sullivan, Ada Marie Robertson and Lora Helen Robertson, and four brothers- Clifton, Johnny, William and Fred Robertson.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Keith Younkin & Rev. Lloyd Younkin  officiating. Burial will follow at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy.  Visitation will be held from 11:00am-1:00pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.  For those who prefer memorials may be made to the First Apostolic Church of Marion. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois  62959.
