Mary Giles

Mary Katherine Giles, 84, of Marion, passed away at 9:35 P.M. on Thursday May 1, 2008 at Herrin Hospital. Mary Katherine was born July 30, 1923 the daughter of Robert E. & Dora (Beers) Knight. She married Robert A. Giles on December 27, 1941 at the First Baptist Church in Marion. Together, they were blessed with sixty-six years of marriage until Bobs death in February, 2008. Mary Katherine was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marion, attended Good Fight of Faith, a life member of the Hospital Auxiliary, K & N Club, she enjoyed oil painting. Survivors include: Two Sons- Robert A. and Pat Giles of San Diego, CA James L. and Sheila Giles of Pikeville, KY Two Daughters- Linda Grace and Russell Dee Rose of Marion, IL Ellen R. and John Mahan of Marion, IL Eleven Grandchildren Eric Giles Jamie & Jeff Allensworth Miriam Macier Russell Monty & Diedre Rose Russell Jeffrey & Sue Rose Brent Giles & Shawna Rose Jennifer Kay Rose Bobby & Brooke Bundren, Jr. Andy & Marcy Bundren Brian & Charity Bundren Josh & Lindsay Mahan Sixteen Great Grandchildren Two Brothers Eugene and Helen Knight of Peoria Phillip and Evelyn Knight of Puyallup, WA Two Sisters Maurine Dempsey of Venice, FL Joyce Showers of Godfrey, IL Several nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by his parents, Three brothers Everett, Robert and James Knight, Three sisters Eva Turner, Hazel Sims and Ruby Besser Sims. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion, with Dr. Bob Dickinson officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Monday, May 5, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church in Marion or Good Fight of Faith.
