Mary (Higdon) Wood

Herrin- Mary Frances Higdon Wood,85, of Herrin, departed this world to live with the Lord on Friday Feb 4, 2005 at 2:50pm at the Herrin Hospital. Mary was born January 13, 1920 in Madisonville, KY to Robert E. and Neva (Vannoy) Higdon. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Herrin, the AARP, and the Herrin Senior Citizens. Survivors include- 1 son- Bill G Williams (and his fianc Marilyn)- Herrin, IL 1 sister- LaDonna Kerley- Herrin, IL 1 brother- William Higdon- Herrin, IL 4 grandchildren- Terry and Jeanette Williams-Herrin, IL Tim Williams and Connie- Ray City, GA Melodie and Duane Doty-Carterville, IL Todd Williams-Deerfield, IL 6 Great Grandchildren 3 Great Great Grandchildren 2 Nieces- Darlene Eason-Lexington, TN Kathy Armstrong-Lobelville, TN Preceded by- Parents and one brother-Wayne Higdon Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin has been entrusted with arrangements. Funeral services will be Tuesday February 8, 2005 at 11am at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow in Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-9 pm Monday February 7, 2005 at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff, ICU, Hospice of Southern Illinois and Dr Kelly Evans for their care and compassion. She will be missed by many family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to the Second Baptist Church of Herrin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
