Mary Jane Riley

Zeigler-Mary Jane Riley, 80, of Zeigler, formerly of Herrin, passed away at 5:03am on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Herrin Hospital. Mary was born on March 17, 1937, the daughter of Clarence William and Lena Floella (Hunter) Emerick. She married James C. “Bud” Riley on November 3, 1956 in Elmwood, IL.  They renewed their wedding vows on their 50^th wedding anniversary and together they shared 58 years of marriage, until his passing on July 29, 2015. Mary Jane had a twin sister and was the second oldest of seven children. She thrived on taking care of others and never retired from it. Sunday mornings were family day, making breakfast for thirty to forty, and was very proud to do it.  Being a mother to nine children was her favorite role. Her family was her world. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at the Christian Life Center in Herrin with Rev. Courtney Hill officiating.  Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 -8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
