Mary L. McGowan

Herrin- MARY L. McGOWAN, age 74, of Herrin, passed away at 9:57pm on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau. Mary was born in Williamson County on October 28, 1936, the daughter of Americo and Dorothy (Hicks) Vagino. She married Kenneth McGowan in Chicago on September 5, 1959. He preceded her in death. Mrs. McGowan was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. She was retired from Allen Industries and Sheller Globe Industries. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law- Mark and Angela McGowan of Herrin Five grandchildren- Dyllon, Michael, Avery, Megan and Ian of Herrin Sister-in-law- Helen Pankala of Arlington, TX Cousin- Anna Mae Wells of Herrin Many cousins, nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband- Kenneth. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Monday, July 11, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
