Herrin- MARY LOUISE ANDRESEN, age 91, of Herrin, passed away at 8:30pm on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Helia Healthcare in Energy.
Mary Lou was born a coal miners daughter on November 11, 1917 in Herrin, to Joseph and Orsolina DeMattei. She married Alfred Martin Andresen in May of 1958 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. They shared thirty-four years of marriage, until his death on July 9, 1992.
Mary Lou was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. She enjoyed playing bingo at the nursing home. In her younger years, she worked at the rationing board during World War II, White City Park, and at Smoller Brothers. Once her son, Marco, was born, her role changed to full time homemaker. She loved her family and adored her grandchildren.

Two Grandchildren- Mollie Jane and Marco Joseph Andresen of Herrin, IL
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers- Herman and Marco DeMattei, and two sisters- Irma DeMattei and Irene Hartmann.
Funeral mass will be held at 10am on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin with Father Steve Poole officiating. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Monday, June 8, 2009 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
