Mary Lou Witherspoon

Herrin- Mary Lou Witherspoon, 70, of Herrin, passed away at 1:10 AM, Saturday, July 2, 2005 at the home of her daughter Debbie. Mary Lou was born on July 12, 1934 in Carbondale to Ray & Sarah Faye (Smith) Rushing. She married Fred Morris on Valentines Day 1953. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1957. She later married Robert W. Witherspoon in Marion on February 28, 1959. She retired from Allen Industries in Herrin and was a member of the Christian Church in Carbondale. Mary was a lover of people and animals and was especially proud of her family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to their Hospice Family for their acts of kindness. SURVIVORS: Daughter & son in law- Debbie & Terry Bird- Herrin Son & daughter in law- Randall & Pam Morris- Johnston City Daughter & son in law- Donna Sue & Kevin Thomas- Herrin Five Grandchildren: Lisa Tolbert- Herrin Tara Haynes- Clarksville, TN Brocton Thomas- Herrin Brittini Thomas- Herrin Dustin Morris- Johnston City Great Grandsons- Kyle & Austin Tolbert- Herrin Brother & sister in law- Robert & Prudy Rushing- Carbondale Several nieces & nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one infant child at birth, two sisters; Wanda Smith & Janet Gibbs, and one niece and nephew. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Tommy Monroe & Rev. Ken Rushing will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until time of service, Tuesday at the funeral home.
