Mary Marjorie Edwards

d. January 23, 2011

Marion Mary Marjorie (Riegel) Edwards, 85, of Marion went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Marjorie was born on October 23, 1925 in Saline County to Leonard L. & Carrie (Moore) Riegel. She married Bill Edwards, son of Lloyd & Lelia Edwards, on September 11, 1943 south of Galatia. He preceded her in death on February 3, 2007. Marjorie (or Mom as known by her grandchildren) had a very active life. She and Bill traveled throughout the U.S. in their motor home vacationing and visiting with their children and grandchildren. In the early 70s, she opened her own business, The Egyptian Ceramic Shop where she made many lifelong friends as she taught the craft. She always took great joy in being a homemaker. She was a wonderful cook and was always concerned that everyone had enough to eat. She took pride in and loved to tend to her flower garden. Even her email address Green Thumb reflected that. In her later years, she maintained her zest for life. She loved to have fun and kept up with her family by going out to dinner and the movies with them. She proved to be technically savvy by mastering the computer and internet. She sent her family daily emails and was always spreading encouragement, even on Facebook. She always enjoyed learning new things and sharing her knowledge with them. She had an impeccable memory, so her stories and anecdotes were plentiful. She was a member of Marion Third Baptist Church for more than 60 years where she served as church hostess and Sunday school teacher. She was able to attend services on the Sunday prior to her passing. She so appreciated her Sunday school class who loved and supported her. Her faith in God was her priority and her unending prayers for her husband and family blessed their lives immensely. She was an integral part of her children and grandchildrens lives and they will all miss her greatly.
