Mary Ruth Rusty Gibbons, age 78, of Johnston City, died Thursday, September 27, 2001 at 11:35 A.M. at Marion Memorial Hospital. Visitation for Mrs. Gibbons was from 6:00-9:00 P.M. Friday, September 28th at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. The funeral service was at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, 29th at Mitchell-Hughes with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial followed in Davis Prairie Cemetery.
Mrs. Gibbons was born September 3, 1923, in Williamson County, Illinois, to John G. and Verna Lee (Smothers) Sheer. They are both deceased. She was currently a homemaker, having retired from Marion Memorial Hospital. She first married Bruno Fofar who preceded her in death on October 11, 1988. She later married Clarence Gibbons who preceded her in death on November 6, 1979.
Survivors include her three sons and one step-son, Bob (& Barbara) Fofar of New Dennison; Randy Fofar of Johnston City;
Richard (& Debbie) Fofar of Pittsburg;
Donald (& Jacqui) Gibbons of Chicago; ten
grandchildren: DeAnn Mangan, Angela Johnson, and Teresa Trumbley, all of Marion; Dawn and Charles Gibbons of Chicago; Kelsey and Jenni Fofar of West Frankfort; Glenna Fofar of Pittsburg; Jeff Fofar of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; Shannon Fofar of Bloomington;
eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Edward Dick Sheer, and one sister, Jean Clendenin.
