Mary Virginia Baker, 86, passed away at 11:34 a.m. June 26, 2002 at Fountain Nursing Home.
Funeral Services for Mary will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mary was born on September 30, 1915 in Carterville, IL to John Thomas and Pearl Jane (Hall) Collins. They both preceded her in death. She married John S. Baker on October 9, 1933 in Murphysboro, IL, he survives.
Mary worked 14 years at Sangamo Electric and 5 1/2 years at the SIU Laundry Department. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marion and a member of AARP.
She is survived by her husband, John S. Baker, Son, John Thomas Baker of Marion, IL, Sons and daughter in laws; Charles D. and Phyllis of Milford, KS, Frankie D. and June of Marion, IL, Harold D. and Terry of Johnston City, IL, a sister; Naomi Ruth Barger of Lansing, MI; Twenty-two grandchildren, Twenty-one great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, her daughter, Marilyn Jane Kucheska, granddaughter, Karen Lynn Baker, and daughter in law, Doris June Baker
