Mavis Claire McDonough

Mavis Claire McDonough, 74, of Marion, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016 at 5:30 pm at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Mavis was born December 15, 1941 in West Frankfort the daughter of Clair and Esther (Cox) McKenzie. She married David McDonough on August 23, 1963 in Evanston, Illinois and together they have shared over 53 years of marriage. She taught 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd grades in Arlington Heights, Kewaunee before ending her teaching career with the Marion Unit 2 School District. Mavis attended Aldersgate Methodist Church and was a member of the ADK Teachers Association. Survivors include her: Husband – David McDonough of Marion Daughter Leslie (Matt) Bove of Greenbrae, California Grandson – Luca Bove Mother – Esther McKenzie of Marion Aunt – Helen Cox of Memphis, Tennessee Aunt – Janet (Jerry) Kline of Carbondale Niece – Meggen Mack of Geneva Three nephews; Brett (Roberta) Beiener of Burr Ridge James (Renea) Cox of Dallas, Texas Donald (Monica) Stewart of West Frankfort Preceded by her Father, Sister – Lynn McKenzie and Sister-in-law – Janice Johnson Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements, services will be private.
