Melva Roberts

Marion Melva D. Roberts, 94, passed away on Thursday, September 03, 2009 at 7:40 A.M. at Parkway Manor. Melva was born August 5, 1914 in Spillertown the daughter of Joe & Mable (Wheelwright) Dippie. She married Jack Roberts on October 14, 1935 in Marion and together they shared over 38 years of marriage until his death on March 24, 1974. She retired from Kimmel Auto Supply in Marion where she had worked for over 30 years. Melva was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Eastern Star. Survivors include: Son Dick Roberts and wife Donnie of Marion Three Grandchildren; Richard Roberts of Houston, Texas Susan Nicolsi of Baltimore, Maryland Mark Roberts of Fort Worth, Texas Seven Great Grandchildren Three Great Great Grandchildren Two Nieces Preceded by her Parents, Husband, Jack, Grandson, Ronnie McNally and Sister Mable Dahmer. Funeral services will be Sunday, September 6, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Victor Long officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
