Michael Joseph Amoroso

Michael Joseph Amoroso, 85, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 7:03 pm at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Mike was born August 28, 1928 in Donora, Pennsylvania the son of Guiseppe “Joseph” and Luisa (DeLembo) Amoroso.  He married Mary Lou Hostert on May 2, 1953 in Carnegie, Pennsylvania, celebrating 60 years of marriage this year. He was member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, previously serving as the Grand Knight.  Mike was an Army veteran, serving his country during the Korean Confict.  His working career was as a professional mechanical engineer. He holds eleven patents in the mechanical engineering design. Survivors include his; Wife – Mary Lou Amoroso of the Lake of Egypt Son – Paul J. Amoroso of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Son – Michael T. Amoroso of Houston, Texas Daughter – Marian Gilmore and husband Robert of Nashville, Tennessee Daughter – Betsy L. Amoroso and husband Tom Braun of St. Louis, Missouri Daughter – Jeannie Amoroso-Knight and husband Stephen of Indianapolis, Indiana Daughter – Ellen Hampton and husband Rick of Portland, Oregon Daughter – Karen Waide and husband Ricky of Paducah, Kentucky Twelve grandchildren; Paul, Tim and Joe Amoroso of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Laura Davies of Silverthorne, Colorado Matthew Amoroso of Chicago Greg Fasnacht of Carbondale Lee Fine of Ft. Worth, Texas Christie Stallings of Royal Oak, Michigan Andrea Fine of Los Angeles, California Ross Fine of Indianapolis, Indiana Justin Hampton of Seattle, Washington Grace Hampton of Portland, Oregon Four Great Grandchildren; Emilia, Olivia and Mason Fine Braxton Davies Two brothers; Frank Amoroso and wife Patricia of Roanoke, Virginia Anthony Amoroso and wife Lori of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Two sisters; Virginia Sovich of Frederick, Maryland Yvonne Bodnar and husband Bill of Viera, Florida Preceded by his Parents, two sisters – Amy Altemara, Mary Baggiani, two brothers – Alfred Amoroso and Louis Amoroso. The funeral mass will be Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Monsignor Thomas Flach officiating.  Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 – 8 p.m. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Knights of Columbus Humanitarian Fund.  Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois  62959.
