Michael Ray Rowland

Herrin Michael Ray Rowland, 52, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at his home in Herrin. Michael was born January 4, 1957 in Marion the son of Jack & Alice (Ballenger) Rowland. Michael attended Penn State University and proudly served his country in the Navy. While in the Navy he was stationed aboard the aircraft USS John F. Kennedy, he was aboard when they entered Yugoslavia for the first time. He was an avid reader. Michael is survived by his; Parents Jack & Alice Rowland of Cape Coral, Florida Two Brothers; Donald Rowland and wife Pam of Grove City, Pennsylvania Richard Rowland and wife Jamie of Simsbury, Connecticut Sister Cheryl Weston and husband Dug of Greensboro, North Carolina Nieces and Nephews; Cassandra Liuzzo, Stefano Weston, Kayla Rowland, Cody Rowland, Sarah Rowland, Christopher Rowland, Gregory Rowland, Margaret Alice Rowland Aunts and Uncles; Betty Senesac of Poway, California Robert Ballenger of Stockton, California Kenneth Ballenger of Austin, Texas Great Aunt Dorothy Powell of Mesa, Arizona Numerous Cousins Preceded by Paternal and Maternal Grandparents Funeral services will be Monday, December 14, 2009 at 1 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Ivan Ryan officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Military rites will be presented by Marions VFW Post #1301, American Legion Post #147 and National Guard Flag Detail Unit. Visitation will be Monday from 11 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
