Michael W. "Mike" Burnett

Johnston City- Michael Wayne Mike Burnett, 58, of Johnston City, passed away at 7:30 PM, Friday, October 9, 2009 at Herrin Hospital. Mike was born on August 31, 1951 in Springfield, IL to Frank & Ludene (Graves) Burnett. He worked many years as a carpenter before he retired. He was a Baptist and enjoyed collecting unique rocks and baseball cards. Survivors include- Sister- Patricia Knipe of Marion Sister- Sally Taylor of Marion Sister- Debbie Burnett of Chicago Brother- Frank Burnett, Jr of Creal Springs Brother- Kevin L. Smith of Valparaiso, IN Brother- Keith Smith of Portage, IN Many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews Several cousins He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother- Bobby Gene Burnett. A private memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Ozark Cemetery in Ozark, IL. Rev. Johnny Burnett will officiate. Inurnment will follow at the cemetery. Memorial arrangements were made by Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.
