Mildred A. Romans

Marion- Mildred Romans, age 95, of Marion, passed away at 2:21pm on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Mildred was born in Tuscumbia, Alabama on July 3, 1923, the daughter of John and Ella (Cawthon) Atkisson. She married Roy W. Romans on February 16, 1944 in Marion. He preceded her in death on June 18, 1997. Mrs. Romans was a member of the First Christian Church in Marion. In her younger years, while in business college, she moved to Indiana to perform secretarial work for the war pipeline. Most of her life, she had worked as a bookkeeper and secretary and in later years, a homemaker. Survivors include two sons- Steve and Reba Romans of Marion Jerry and Jo Ann Romans of Salisbury, NC Granddaughter- Angela and David Lore of Old Fort, NC Great Grandchildren- David, Daniel, Melissa, Ashley, and Jennifer Lore of Salisbury, NC Many Nieces and Nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers- Glen, Jack, and Bill Atkisson, and sister- Mary Ann Moss. As per her wishes, she will be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 6:30 pm at the 1st Christian Church in Marion with Rev. Bill Rucker officiating.
