Marion Mildred Louise (Hankins) Henshaw, 83, passed quietly at home after a brief illness at 5:30 P.M. on Sunday, June 22, 2008.
She was born July 1, 1924 to Arvel and Bessie (Boatright) Hankins of Brushy Township in Saline County, Illinois. She married Orla Henshaw on September 14, 1945 and moved to Marion. Together they have shared over 62 years of marriage.
Mrs. Henshaw was a faithful Christian, attending Second Baptist Church in Marion and Whiteash Freewill Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener, seamstress, cook, and quilter. Her warmth, generosity and quick laughter will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her husband Orla Henshaw, as well by their four children and their spouses: Nancy Barger of Marion, Rhonda Graves and her husband Ron of Marion, William (Cy) Henshaw and his wife Valerie of Marion and Rhoda Hilliard and her husband Jim of Creal Springs. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Nickie Branson and husband Kenny of Marion, Gretchen Cudworth and husband Cory of Carbondale, James (Gaylen) Durham of Forest Hills, New York, Ryan Graves and wife Katie of Mayfield, Kentucky, Scott Graves of Marion, Chris Henshaw of Paris Island, South Carolina, Marc Henshaw and wife Shay of Marion and Dustin Hilliard of Creal Springs. Five great grandchildren; Collin, Easton and Katy Branson, Giana Cudworth, Kyler Henshaw and she was looking forward to the arrival of her sixth great grandchild, Eli Graves in August. Sister-in-law Gloria Henshaw of Chester and numerous extended family members and friends.
Mrs. Henshaw is preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Ed Harper, sisters, Laura May Dobrey, Juanita Thompson, brother, Charles Hankins as well as a sister and brother who died in infancy.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Kenny Blumenstock officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service on Wednesday.
