Mildred Ruby Newell

Marion- Mildred Ruby Newell, 94, passed away on Wednesday May 8, 2013 at 7:18 am at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Mildred was born July 1, 1918 in Marion, Illinois the daughter of Henry E. and Alice (Youngblood) Newell. She was a presser at Monroe Cleaners for 31 years and following her retirement she did alterations in her home. Mildred was a member of Spillertown Baptist Church, she loved her church family and attending church when she was able. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her neighbors. She is survived by her:Sister-Julia Holmes of Carrier Mills; Brother-Charles & Jeanette Newell of Marion; Several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry E. and Alice Newell, three sisters, Louise Boyd, Sybil Henson and Mayme Ruth Mifflin and three brothers, John Newell, James Newell and Paul Newell. Funeral services will be held at Mitchell Hughes Funeral Home at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 12, 2013 with Rev. Steve Shea and Rev. Shorty Alsip officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Spillertown Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois 62959.
