Miriam Green

Miriam Green, 92 entered life eternal peacefully on November 3, 2008 in Columbia, Missouri after a brief illness. She was a woman of determination, devotion and quick wit who was well loved by family and friends. The youngest of seven children, she was born November 6, 1915 to John N. and Ora Glascock Bramlet at the family farm in Raleigh Township near Harrisburg. She married Wayne A. Green on February 20, 1938 at the First Baptist Church in Harrisburg. They were partners in life and in business, working together in their paint and decorating business until retirement in 1968 to travel and pursue other interest. She also was involved in other sales and business activities, and authored two cookbooks during her lifetime. She was active in her church and in many community activities throughout her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marion. She was a member of the Marion Womens Club, the Daniel H. Brush chapter of the NSDAR, Williamson County Home Extension and the Marion Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed sports, particularly tennis and basketball, both as a fan and participant well into her senior years. Later in life she developed an interest in genealogy research. Mrs. Green is survived by son John and his wife Rita of Eureka, IL, daughter Susie Moore and her husband Richard of Columbia, MO, son Heyward and his wife Marsha of Waco, TX. Two Grandchildren; Kim Skinner and her husband Scott of Lake Saint Louis, MO and John M. Green and his wife Jennifer of Clinton, MA and by six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Wayne in 1993. She also was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Grace Read and Marguerite Patterson and brothers John Lloyd, Willard, Heyward, and Robert Bramlett. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 6, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Dr. Bob Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to Marions First Baptist Church Building Fund. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
