Monzelle Connett, age 82, formerly of Marion, died at 4:25 P.M. Thursday, June 14th, 2001, at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.
Visitation for Monzelle was held Sunday, June 17th from 5-8 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, with the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, June 18th with Pastor Mike Ebert and Rev. Cindy Absher officiating. Burial was at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Marion. Memorials may be given to the Third Baptist Church General Building Fund.
Mrs. Connett was born January 28, 1919, in Saline County, Illinois, the daughter of Charlie and Rosa (Milburn) Parton. They preceded her in death. She married Wayne Connett on August 31, 1939 in Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1969.
She was a member of Third Baptist Church. Her mission in life was to be a good mother, to be known as a hard worker, and to live for the Lord.
Her survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Don & Joyce Connett of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two daughters and one son-in-law, Rosa Lee Baird of San Jose, California and Mayme & Rick Leukering of Pittsburg; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Scott Leukering.
