Mr. Richard L. Wiggins

Herrin- Richard L. Wiggins, 74, of Herrin, passed away at 12:24 PM, Friday, November 8, 2013 at HerrinHospital. Richard was born on April 20, 1939 in Herrin to William Paul and Ruth (Burke) Wiggins.  He served his country bravely while enlisted as a US Marine during the Vietnam era.  Once honorably discharged, he began a career as an electrician for various contractors including, US Steel and NASA.  He was Baptist and a member of the Illinois Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.  He was an outdoorsman and avid sportsman who enjoyed spending time on the lake fishing or hunting for birds at his favorite spots.  He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.  Survivors include-  Grandchild- Rebecca Wiggins of Utah Grandchild- Alex Wiggins of Chesterton, IN Great grandchildren- Bobbie and Jeremiah Sister- Janet “Jan” Lattig of Carterville Several nieces, nephews and cousins He was preceded in death by his parents, son- Richard A. Wiggins, two sisters- Betty Dziurdzy and Patricia Hess and two brothers- Terry and Paul A. Wiggins. Private memorial services will be held at a later date by the family.  Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin assisted the family with memorial arrangements. Memorial donations are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ 201 S. 13^th St./ Herrin, IL  62948.
