Mrs. Imogene "Genie" Prudent

Zeigler- Imogene “Genie” Prudent, 90, of Zeigler, passed away at 4:50 PM, Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin. Genie was born on April 30, 1925 in Valier to Domy and Vida Fern (Giles) Giacoma.  She married William Anthony “Bill” Prudent on December 2, 1942 in Perryville, MO.  He preceded her in death on May 11. 1989. She was a homemaker and previously worked for a munitions factory in St. Louis during WWII. She was a longtime active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Zeigler and attended other area catholic churches recently. Genie was a caring loving woman who had a quick wit and keen sense of humor.  She enjoyed classical music and craft work, like ceramics and oil painting, but what she most enjoyed most were long walks with her husband, Bill and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren Survivors include-   Daughter- Carole Jean Prudent of Springfield, Illinois   Son- William Anthony Prudent, Jr. and wife Darelynn of Zeigler   Son- James Edward Prudent of Herrin   Five Grandchildren:   Kimberly Nicholls and husband Chad of Springfield, Missouri   William “Ty” Chizevsky of Springfield, Illinois   Brian Prudent and wife Angi of Moline   Brandy Forinash and husband Andrew of Kirkwood, Missouri   David Prudent of Zeigler   Seven Great Grandchildren:   Dom and Morgan Nicholls   Sylee, Livi and Pace Prudent of Moline   Blake and Boden Forinash She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters- Lillie Hasten and Jacquelyn Klauke. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Royalton.  Friends and family are asked to meet directly at graveside.  Father Hsu will officiate.  Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin assisted the family with memorial arrangements.
