Herrin- Muriel May Hosch, 90, of Herrin, passed away at 9:55 PM, Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Herrin Hospital.
Muriel was born on October 26, 1924 in Hull, England to Alfred and Anne (Baker) Hatley. She married Robert Carl Hosch on September 2, 1945 in Lesbury, England. He preceded her in death on June 21, 2006.
She was a hardworking woman who cleaned houses and cared for her family. She was a longtime member of Herrin First Baptist Church where she formerly taught Sunday school.
She was a talented and avid bowler who travelled to many tournaments and won many trophies as a result. She bowled 3 to 4 times a week at Herrin Bowl.
Survivors include-
Daughter- Carol Crumbacher of Herrin
Son- Bryan Carl Hosch of Carterville
Four grandchildren:
Michael Crumbacher of Carbondale
Lori Meidwig and husband John of Chatham
Ryan Crumbacher of Johnston City
Kacey Lynn Hosch of Carterville
Three Great Grandchildren:
Blake Crumbacher and Lexi Ann & Ben Meidwig
One Niece and one nephew
Several great nieces and nephews and cousins
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister- Marie Sword and step father- Thomas Weston.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Pastor Paul Mount will officiate. Burial will follow at Willowrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, October 5, 2015 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
