Mrs. Ruby Dryden

Hurst- Ruby Lee (Livingston) Dryden, 89, of Hurst, died in her home at 10:19 AM on May 19, 2015 due to complications following pneumonia. She was surrounded by family and passed peacefully in her sleep. Ruby was born on January 5, 1926 in Cambria, IL, to her parents Ralph and Berlie Livingston. Soon after her family moved to Pinckneyville where she grew up.  She graduated Pinckneyville High School in 1944.   She married Grady D. Dryden on May 29, 1948 in Blairsville, IL. . He preceded her in death August 18, 2006. The Drydens made their home in Hurst, IL where Ruby & Grady owned and operated Grady D. Dryden Trucking for 50 years. She retired in 1997. Ruby was a patient and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Ruby enjoyed cooking, gardening, bird watching, reading, puzzles, crocheting, crafting, sewing, bowling listening to music and spending time with her family. She was an avid St Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bulls fan. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Cindy and Dave Fowler of Hurst, IL, and Vickie Wallace of Marion, IL.  Six grandchildren: Tami Snyder and husband Andy of Paducah, KY, Lori Ellett and husband Rhett of DeSoto, Amanda Corzine and husband Matt of Dongola, Michael Wallace and wife Jennifer of Eureka, MO, Vickie Gish of Henderson, KY, and Johnny Dryden of Herrin. Seven great grandchildren: Landon and Grayden Snyder, Rhys Ellett, Ruby and Finley Wallace, Kira Gish, and Aubree Dryden. One sister, Lurline White, several nieces and one nephew also survive. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Grady D.Dryden, her son Wesley P. Dryden, her parents Ralph and Berlie Livingston and brothers Bill, Jim, and Ralph Jr. Livingston. Ruby will be buried in a private ceremony at a later date in Blairsville Cemetery.  Memorial arrangements were made at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
