Muriel (Mimi) Peterson

Herrin Muriel Mimi J. Peterson, 75 died on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 4:02 A.M. at Herrin Hospital. Mrs. Peterson was born January 22, 1932 in Melrose Park, Illinois the daughter of John R. & Dorothy (Rensch) Benson. She married Richard G. Peterson on June 27, 1953 in Oak Park, Illinois and together they have shared the 54 years of marriage. He survives in Herrin. Muriel worked as a teachers aid for special education and as a hair designer. She was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by: Husband Richard Peterson of Herrin Three Grandchildren; Benjamin Peterson, Nicholas Peterson and Elizabeth Peterson all of St. Louis, Missouri Daughter-in-law Deborah Peterson of St. Louis, Missouri Two Brothers; Burton Benson of Lysle, Illinois Robert Benson and wife Nancy of Sugar Grove, Illinois Several nieces and nephews Preceded by Her parents, Son Mark R. Peterson, Two Sisters, Dorothy Cortopassi, Delores Benson and Brother, John Benson, Jr. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be Monday at 11:00 A.M. in St. Paul Church Yard Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. For those who prefer memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
