Herrin- Murle Mack Hill, 82, of Herrin, formerly of Scott City, MO, died at 8:45 AM, Saturday, March 20, 2004 at the Marion Veterans Administration Hospital.
Murle was born on December 14, 1921 in Perkins, MO to Oliver & Mary (Knupp) Hill. He married Lily Pearl Hale on August 23, 1947 in Piggott, Ark. She survives of Herrin.
Mr. Hill served in the Army Medical Corps during WWII. He was self-employed and worked a variety of jobs to provide for his family. He drove a school bus in Scott City for many years. Murle was an innovative man. He enjoyed working with metal and was able to make specific tools, which would help to make a job easier. He once moved an entire house, which he built on his own, with nothing more than a motor and some telephone poles. He also enjoyed HAM radio; he didnt start until he was 70. He was operator KB9SDN. He was a member of the First Church of God in Herrin for more than twenty years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son; Mack Hill, one grandson; Scott Tipsword, and one brother; Albert Collier.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Maurice Absher & Rev. Dan Smith will co-officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7:00PM, Monday, March 22, 2004 at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City, MO. Friends are asked to meet directly at the cemetery on Tuesday for the graveside service.
