Herrin- Nancy Elizabeth Peters, 84, of Herrin, died at 4:05 P.M., Saturday, October 20, 2001 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.
Nancy was born on March 31, 1917 in Herrin to Edward Everett & Elsie (Johnson) Stout. She married Walter Allen Peters in 1942. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1979.
Mrs. Peters was a homemaker and formerly worked for a short time at Smoller Bros in Herrin. In her spare time Nancy enjoyed going fishing with her sister Dora at Crab Orchard Lake. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Herrin and was well known for her many photographs of the church and various activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son; Edward Allen Peters and two brothers; Charles Esco Stout and Thomas Stout.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 23, 2001 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Michael Tetmeyer will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, October 22, 2001 from 6-9:00 PM at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home.
