Herrin- Nancy Elizabeth Peters, 84, of Herrin, died at 4:05 P.M., Saturday, October 20, 2001 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin. Nancy was born on March 31, 1917 in Herrin to Edward Everett & Elsie (Johnson) Stout. She married Walter Allen Peters in 1942. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1979. Mrs. Peters was a homemaker and formerly worked for a short time at Smoller Bros in Herrin. In her spare time Nancy enjoyed going fishing with her sister Dora at Crab Orchard Lake. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Herrin and was well known for her many photographs of the church and various activities. Survivors: Son- Ronald Peters- Energy Grandson- Ronald Allen Peters- Herrin Grandson- James Leland Peters- Herrin Brother & sis in law- Harry & Jean Stout- Herrin Sister- Dora Roach- Johnston City Brother & sister in law- Harvey & Alice Stout- Chicago Sis & bro in law- Lillian & Bill Herzog- Johnston City Several nieces & nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son; Edward Allen Peters and two brothers; Charles Esco Stout and Thomas Stout. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 23, 2001 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Michael Tetmeyer will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, October 22, 2001 from 6-9:00 PM at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the First Pentecostal Church in Herrin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
