Netta R. Marshall

Herrin- Netta Rose Marshall, 93, of Herrin, passed away at 7:00pm on Thursday May 26, 2005 at her home in Herrin, surrounded by her loving family. Netta was born in Herrin on December 4, 1911 to Louis and Jennie (Gualdoni) Mira. She married Alvin Marshall on August 26, 1942 in Herrin. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1974. Mrs. Marshall was a graduate of St Marys Parochial School and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. She was a past member of the Daughters of Isabella, a Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary and volunteered over 2500 hours at the VA Hospital. Netta worked as a custodian at St Marys School and later was a clerk at Lot-O-Savings in Herrin. Survivors include- 2 daughters- Carolyn (and husband Don) Middleton- Marion, IL Jennie Absher (and friend Bill Huff)- Herrin, IL 6 grandchildren- Kim (Bob) Warren- Hardin, KY Byron (Rebecca) Watson- Tuscon, AZ Michele (Jimmie) Loyd- Herrin, IL Mike Middleton and Amy Young- Marion, IL Steven Horn- Herrin, IL Mary Ann (Greg) Houseworth- Herrin, IL 6 great grandchildren Joshua and Jessica Loyd Tino and Aurora Watson Benjamin Warren and another great grandchild expected in January Tristan Houseworth 1 brother- Mike (Jean) Mira- Herrin, IL Preceded in death by- Parents, husband, and one brother- Charles Mira The family would like to extend a special thank you to Nettas caregivers: LaDonna, Penny, Rosa, Barbara. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday May 30, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Sunday May 29, 2005 and one hour before services at the funeral home on Monday. A prayer service will be held at 6:00pm on Sunday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel School or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
