Neva A. Hamel

Marion Neva A. Hamel, 87, of Whiting, Indiana, formerly of Marion passed away Friday, May 10, 2002 at 8:50 A.M. at North Lake Nursing Center in Merrillville, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5-9 P.M. Burial will be at Freedom Cemetery south of Marion. Rev. Tim Jearlds will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Harbor Light Hospice or Whiting Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Neva was born in Williamson County July 23, 1914 to Dave and Myrtie (Presley) Clendenin. They preceded her in death. She married Goldman Hamel and he preceded her in death on January 3, 1982. Survivors include: Son and Dau-in-law: Walter and Garnet Hamel of Hessville, IN Son and Dau-in-law: Johnny and Linda Hamel of Munster, IN Dau and Son-in-law: Lillian Aleen and Troy Summey of Culver, IN Daughter: Wanda Aicher of Munster, IN Fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren, Brothers Cecil and Joe Clendenin of Marion, and Sisters Nancy Steele and Mary Jearlds both of Marion. Two sons Eugene and Teddy, three daughters Bessie, Jessie and Betty and four Brothers preceded her in death. Neva was a longtime resident of Whiting, IN and a member of Whiting First Baptist Church.
