Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home Full Obituary Herrin-NOLA JEANETTE HICKS, age 87, of Herrin passed away at 12:20pm, on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Whispering Oaks Assisted Living in Marion. Nola was born in Energy on September 5, 1920, the daughter of Edward and Delta (Robertson) Walker. She married Floyd Dude Hicks on Christmas Day 1938 in Cape Girardeau, MO. They shared fifty-four years of marriage, until his death on May 6, 2003. Nola worked at Sagamon Electric and Allen Industries. She was a wonderful seamstress and cook. Nothing pleased her more than having her children and grandchildren home to cook for. SURVIVORS: Daughter & son in law- Marva & Dan White- Emory, TX Daughter- Diane Rice- Holland, PA Grandchildren: Todd & wife Davonna White- Houston, TX Jeff & wife Julie White- Oklahoma City, OK Karie & husband Ward Starrett- Plano, TX Casey & husband Tony Durso- Fairfax, VA Kelly Rice- Jacksonville, FL Great Grandchildren: Jordan, Miranda, Madison, and Jase White Emily & Madeleine Starrett Olivia and Sophia Durso Several nieces and nephews Extended family- David and Debbie Irwin of Herrin Brent and Brittany Irwin Caregiver and friend- Judy Ridings of Herrin She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son- Jerry Lynn Hicks, two brothers, and two sisters. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30pm until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
