Norene Lois (Mundy) Williams, formerly of Junction, Louisiana, currently residing in Herrin, Illinois, went home to be with her Lord at the age of 76 on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 8:12 am at Shawnee Senior Living in Herrin, Illinois.
Norene was born December 13, 1946 in Honululu, Hawaii, a daughter of Norman Luis Mundy and Joan Haruko Kaneshiro.
Norene married Dalbert "Blackie" Williams, who preceded her in death. Her husband, Dalbert, worked for the Santa Fe Oil Company. They both spent several years traveling and living in various countries in the Middle East. Later, Norene, along with Linda Prather and others, was instrumental in starting the EMT program in Junction City, Louisiana, and worked there until her retirement. For a time, she also worked for Bailey's Funeral Home in El Dorado, Arkansas. She loved music, plants, watching horror movies, gardening, along with arts and crafting.
Norene is survived by her three children, Donna (Mike) Robinson from Herrin, Illinois; Yvonne (Brian) Leibenguth from Raleigh, Illinois, and Lorene L. Grisham from Harrisburg, Illinois. She is also survived by two brothers- Jon Prather of Altamont, Tennessee and Leif Mundy from Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and a sister- Joann Filcher-Olathe from Kansas City, Kansas. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was loved by all who knew her.
Norene was preceded in death by her husband, Dalbert "Blackie" Williams; a son, David L. Comstock, Jr., a daughter, Leilani Ann Comstock, and a granddaughter, Ashley Michaela Dawn Brown.
A family memorial will be held at a later date. There will be no public visitation. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with final arrangements.
