Johnston City- NORMA JEAN PATTERSON, age 80, of Johnston City, passed away at 9:05am on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Herrin Hospital.
Norma was born in Eldorado, IL on January 23, 1929, the daughter of John Matthew and Mabel Virginia (Reed) Barton. She was the youngest of 10 children. She married Ted L. Murphy in 1947. He preceeded her in death in 1954. She married John L. Patterson on April 1, 1955 in Herrin. Together, they shared fifty-two years of marriage. He preceeded her in death on October 22, 2007. Mrs. Patterson was a loving mother and grandmother.

Two Step-daughters- Sandra and Mike McKinnon of Huntsville, AL
Beverly and Robert Warshawsky of Anna, IL
Grandchildren- Kimberlyn and Tom Haag, Gayla Litton, Mark & Kristal Overturf,
Billy Beltz, Christy Beltz, Erica Beltz, Brandi Eastman, Sasha Jackson,
Micah Jackson, Rosser Smith, John Patterson, Matthew Patterson,
Samantha Patterson.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter- Trena Patterson Smith, one great-grandson - Luke Edward Jordan, six brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Friday, June 12 at the funeral home.
