Pappy was a loving husband, father, and grand-father who spent his early years in the adventures of the Great Depression working in the Civilian Conservation Corps fighting forest fires in the Lake Michigan and Lake Superior areas. His long life included many occupations including boiler fireman on a car ferry on Lake Michigan, a taxi driver, a chauffer, and he later retired from the Norge factory in Herrin. His life was one of modest simplicity, dedicated to serving his Lord, his family, his many friends, and anyone in need. He was truly a man with a heart of service with a passion for spreading the Good News of his Lord and Savior. Not by a bold and aggressive approach, but by his quiet, peaceful, and loving service and compassion to others.
