Olive I. Ward

Herrin-Olive I. Ward, age 91, of Herrin, passed away at 11:02 PM on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Marion. Olive was born in Herrin on August 29, 1918, the daughter of Prudenice Petty. She married Herschel E. Junior Ward on June 18, 1937 by the Justice of the Peace in Benton. He preceded her in death on November 9, 2006. Olive was a member of the Bryan Street Baptist Church in Herrin. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her Son- Ronald Ward- Herrin Son & daughter in law- Robert & Mickey Ward- Effingham Son & daughter in law- Donald & Carol Ward- Herrin Daughter- June Ward- Herrin Daughter in law- Mona Ward- Herrin Eight Grandchildren: Todd Ward & wife Lisa- Herrin Mark Ward & wife Beverly- Du Quoin Jennifer Ward- Salem Sara Ward- Mt. Vernon Jeremy Ward- Herrin Valarie Jacovides- Mesa, AZ Vicki Horn- Mesa, AZ Cindy Chamness- Herrin Eleven Great Grandchildren: Jared, Cody & Rachel Ward- Herrin Drew Horn- Mesa, AZ Brittney & Brooke Ward- DuQuoin Caitlyn Henson- Salem Nick Jacovides- Mesa, AZ Josh Thurman- Mesa, AZ Elizabeth Sealy- St Louis, MO Erica Sealy- Carbondale, IL Great Great Grandchild- Zachary Hayden- Mesa, AZ Brother-in-law & sister in law- Charles & Sylvia Ward- Sycamore, IL Many nieces, nephews and cousins She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two grandchildren-Andre Jo Searles and Angie Horn. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 14, 2010 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with her son, Rev. Robert Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 PM, Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
