Herrin- Olvettia N. Culley, 92, of Escondido, CA, formerly of Herrin, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Villa Serena Guest Home in Escondido, CA.
Olvettia was born on April 8, 1924 in DeSoto to Homer and Bertha (Hicks) Barnett. She married Earl Culley in Shawneetown in December of 1967. He preceded her in death in June of 1968.
She worked many jobs throughout her career, the last was as a bundle route driver for The Southern for several years. She was baptized later in life at Herrin First Baptist Church.
In her spare time, Olvettia loved to bowl in women’s league or with her daughter at Herrin Bowl or SI Bowl.

Daughter- Susan Lentz and husband Dave of Carterville
Daughter- Barbara Garland of Herrin
Daughter- Anna Beth Collins and husband Jim of Oceanside, CA

19 Great Grandchildren
Sister- Loudean McKinnies of South Bend, IN
Sister- Sylvia Klemites of St. Louis, MO
Numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandchild- Tanya Sanders and one Great Grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Ralph Brandon will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Blairsville Cemetery in Blairsville. Visitation will be from 11:00 PM until time of service at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
